when i took off to the states to work at a national park for a season, my friend pia eikaas gave me a copy of erlend loe’s ‘doppler’. It’s a book on a guy who’s living a suburbian life in oslo, norway. after falling on his bike one day, he decides to leave his wife and kid for a while and re-locate to the woods outside the city. determined to try and not be competend, he settles down among the trees and ends up forming a relationship with a baby moose  he names bongo after his father (even though he wasn’t named bongo).

It’s a book on mans relationship with nature and a hilarious comment on contemporary life, with it’s important decisions on matters such as the color of the bathroom walls and the likes.

bonus info: it can be picked up in most danish book stores in a paperback version for less than 100 kr.
